The Journey Project

Helping women facing breast cancer tell their story through photography

“Cancer took so much from me and changed me, both physically and emotionally. Amy’s photos not only documented this journey in the most respectful and elegant way, but she also made me feel strong and beautiful…Her artistic eye is unparalleled.

Every image she captures is stunning. Amy treats you with the most respect and kindness, and she is the ultimate professional.”

“Amy’s images…are a representation of my strength and beauty that I often forget I carry with me at all times. Amy truly showed me the light in the darkness – she showed me how strong and beautiful I am, even if I can’t see it or feel it myself.

Amy Ciscool’s professionalism and her attention to detail will allow you to fully relax and enjoy every moment you spend in her studio, so you too can feel like a piece of art. She is the most talented photographer and one of the most authentic humans I have ever met. Her work is unique, beautiful and inspiring.”

Who is this for?

If you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer and want to capture your journey but don’t have the budget for a full-rate session, this is for you.

How it began?

It started with my friend Erica, a public elementary school teacher, mom of two, wife, sister, and all-around multitasker, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

In March 2020, as everything around us went on pause, I captured her first moments of that journey. I was back again on September 8, 2020, the day of her double mastectomy.

Sharing her portraits sparked healing conversations and touched so many women. Since then, I’ve been honored to photograph dozens of courageous clients navigating their own battles; they tell me these sessions are as empowering and therapeutic as they are beautiful.

“I just wanted to thank you So very much for helping my Beautiful and Amazing niece, Erica Jarmon, chronicle her journey through breast cancer. She has shared some of your amazing photos with me along the way, and I have been deeply touched.

My mother, Erica's MomMom, walked her own journey through this awful disease when Erica was just a young teenager. My mother was given 3 months to live, & made it 1-month shy of 3 Yrs! So Erica saw a strong fighter, and she is just as strong & determined! I hope you put something together to show the many faces of just how strong & courageous the women are who fight breast cancer. Thank you again!”

Why is it called The Journey Project?

After Erica’s double mastectomy, a well-intentioned friend asked, “So you’re all good now, right?” And Erica’s answer hit me hard:

“This is far from over; it’s a lifelong journey and it evolves every day”

That brutal honesty and her fierce courage sparked The Journey Project. Because breast cancer isn’t a one-off hurdle; it’s a winding road that reshapes you every single day. This is for Erica, her loved ones, and everyone whose path cancer has forever changed.

What I’m Offering:

Meet your photographer, Amy Ciscool

Photographer. Creative. Former corporate escapee. Full-time champion of women who are done playing small.

At 38, Amy walked away from the corporate grind that checked all the boxes, but none of the soul. She traded it for a camera, a blank slate, and a new home in New Hope, Pennsylvania. By 41, she opened her studio, not just to take pretty pictures, but to create a space where women could see themselves fully, maybe for the first time in a long time.

Amy’s work is rooted in truth. Minimalist, bold, and completely intentional. She photographs women across all stages of life, with a special focus on those 40+ who are ready to take up space, be witnessed, and not shrink for anyone.

This isn’t about transformation. It’s about recognition.

And she’s here to document the version of you that’s already powerful and not asking for permission.
